| At the northern end of Shell Beach Road is the Sunset Palisades
neighborhood. A beautiful and quiet neighborhood with wide streets. There
are some homes that sit on the bluff (oceanfront) with the majority of the
homes in the neighbor hood on the streets East of Indio Dr. At the extreme
north is "The Bluffs" which consists of a few multi-million $ homes built
above Pirates Cove.
There isn't really any beach access that's close to this neighborhood. The Cliff hotel that is South on Shell Beach Rd does have coastal access. There are some new homes being built at the southern most part of this area, on BeachComber. |

| This area is around the SpyGlass motel. There are some ocean front properties in this area. SpyGlass Park is a nice park with benches to watch the ocean, sunsets, or the surfers. There is a path down to a beach too. |

| This area has lots of streets leading to the ocean bluff lined with
homes. Homes range from remodeled two story properties to older one story
cottages. There are a few places where there are access stairs to the beach.
At the corner of Ocean Blvd and Cliff Ave is Margo Dodd Park. The
pelicans(?) (or birds with really long beaks) nest on a couple rocks. There
are usually lots of people that come here to watch the birds and take
pictures, especially on weekends. West of Cliff Ave is Dinosaur Caves. This was named for some big dinosaurs that were here in the 60's (like in the Pee Wee Herman movie). The city is soon going to start work on making this into a park. |
